#1240 duplicate v6 advertised on ietf-hotel but doesn't work? Clemens Schrimpe jari.arkko@…
Description

Hi,

Wondering if this is a problem or something on my Mac…

When connected to the “ietf” SSID on floor 9, I get everything working nicely. But when connecting to “ietf-hotel”, again everything works nicely on v4, but on v6 I have no connectivity.

Yet there’s a prefix advertisement:

11:46:01.542449 IP6 (hlim 255, next-header ICMPv6 (58) payload length: 96) fe80::46d9:e7ff:fe40:b938 > ff02::1: [icmp6 sum ok] ICMP6, router advertisement, length 96
	hop limit 64, Flags [other stateful], pref medium, router lifetime 600s, reachable time 0s, retrans time 0s
	  prefix info option (3), length 32 (4): 2001:67c:1232:144::/64, Flags [onlink, auto], valid time 2592000s, pref. time 2592000s

	    0x0000:  44d9 e740 b938

Which is accepted by my Mac, but then pinging on v6 doesn’t work.

Is ietf-hotel supposed to work on v6? If not, disable the advertisements… if yes… maybe some fixing to do on my Mac or your network...

#1305 invalid v6 RA? Clemens Schrimpe krose@…
Description
I'm on the ietf network in Karlin III and haven't observed any IPv6 router
advertisements in at least the last 20 minutes. I'm unsure whether this is
a problem with my client or with the network.
#279 fixed v4 DNS queries to root-servers refused jim@… koji@…
Description
Hi,

Queries from my Macbook to the root-servers using IPv4 are being
refused:

% dig -4 @f.root-servers.net . soa

; <<>> DiG 9.4.3-P3 <<>> -4 @f.root-servers.net . soa
; (1 server found)
;; global options:  printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: REFUSED, id: 12759
;; flags: qr rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0
...

It's working ok via IPv6:

% dig -6 @f.root-servers.net . soa

; <<>> DiG 9.4.3-P3 <<>> -6 @f.root-servers.net . soa
; (1 server found)
;; global options:  printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 55962
;; flags: qr aa rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 13, ADDITIONAL: 13
...

It's causing problems for my local caching server.

I'm currently at the ietf-a.1x and my current IP addresses are:

% ifconfig en1
en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet6 fe80::21e:52ff:fe88:95f%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6
        inet6 2001:df8::96:21e:52ff:fe88:95f prefixlen 64 autoconf
        inet 130.129.98.236 netmask 0xfffff800 broadcast 130.129.103.255
        ether 00:1e:52:88:09:5f
        media: autoselect status: active
        supported media: autoselect

Hugo
