Description
Dear IETF, Many people are experiencing a lot of problems, especially in the evening, when trying to use the "ietf-hotel" network. Last night was the worst. Personally I experienced DHCP failures, DNS failures, large quantity of packet loss. For the location details, my room is 4068 (4th floor). The signal power I get around 40%-42% (but that should not be a problem). The three devices I tried to connect from are: - MacOS Sierra (10.12.5) - iPhone6 Plus - PS4 I hope this helps. Thanks, Max -- Best Regards, Massimiliano Pala, Ph.D. OpenCA Labs Director

Hi Clemens, all, I hope this is the right way to provide you with the MAC addresses. Here's the three addresses: - Mac (98:01:a7:b5:cf:0b) - iPhone (E0:B5:2D:28:A6:B6) - PS4 (c0:38:96:f0:8c:af) The other comment I would like to make is that I also tried the Wired connection in the room without success as well. Here's the address for the wired: - PS4 (Wired) (00:d9:d1:bb:81:79) I hope this will help :-D Cheers, Max On 7/18/17 11:17 AM, IETF Tickets/NOC wrote: > #1119: Ietf-hotel not working > -----------------------------+---------------------------------------- > Reporter: director@… | Owner: Clemens Schrimpe > Type: request | Status: accepted > Priority: tbd | Milestone: ietf-99 > Component: wireless | Resolution: > Keywords: | My Current Location: > My MAC Address: | My OS: > -----------------------------+---------------------------------------- > Changes (by Clemens Schrimpe): > > * status: assigned => accepted > > > Comment: > > Hi Max - > > I would like to look closer at your particular case. Max,
Sorry for the delays on this.
Regarding the wired connection, I can have an engineer come to your room from the Hotel Staff and attempt to repair your wired issue.
Can I have your permission to pass onto them for entry into your room?
Regarding Wireless, I'm delving into searches for all your mac addresses above. One thing we are dealing with is that the Hotel Wireless infrastructure (which IETF-Hotel is broadcast over), is at full power on all 250+ AP's they have in the Hotel guest room areas. This is causing some users to pickup an access point who's channel it really likes but is maybe 2 floors down, and not the one next door.
Unfortunately we have been working with them to try and trim some of the fat, but manually diagnosing each AP's bubble is a long project that the hotel will start to work on after we leave (in preparation for our return in 2 years)..
I'll go up to your floor and see if I can make sure there isn't a black spot near your room. Then follow up with you further.
If your issues have subsided at all regarding wireless please let me know by replying to this email.
Thank you,
-Con

Max,
It's been 2 Days since our last communiqué regarding this issue. I imagine your connectivity improved in your room.
If not please feel free to reply to this message and re-open the case.

Hi Max -
I would like to look closer at your particular case. Can you give us one or more MAC and/or IP addresses of your device(s) to work with?
Thanks,
Clemens
