High packet loss outside between bar and leisure center

I've got 3 "bars" out of 4 on the signal meter on the mac, but 40-70%  
packet loss:

I switched from ietf to ietf-a and got great response (even though I was clearly using 802.11a already)

er, I take it back, while switching let me send that mail life is still rough
