#342 closed request (fixed)

can't reach AS2518

Reported by: s-kawamura@… Owned by: jim@…
Priority: tbd Milestone: IETF Week
Component: incoming Keywords:
Cc: My Current Location:
My MAC Address: My OS:

I cannot reach my AS2518 (ipv4) from the
IETF network right now. IPv6 works fine. Its just IPv4.
Traceroute as follows.

  1 1 ms <1 ms 1 ms
  2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms
  3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms
  4 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms []
  5 * *

Now a traceroute to IIJ

  1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms
  2 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms
  3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms []
  4 97 ms 97 ms 97 ms []

I've tried a few other ASes in Japan and none
go to except for my AS.

Please excuse the reply-to header since I'm using a server
I usually don't use.

As you saw when you were in the NOC, it looks like this problem can be addressed by forcing traffic to your systems out the Dial Networks link rather than the NIC.CZ link. I did some additional research, and it seems that NIC.CZ addresses (ie, our end of the transit link to them) can reach your site just fine, but anything out of the IETF address space (130.129/16) going out via NIC.CZ fails. I've sent a query off to NIC.CZ, and hopefully they can find an issue on their end. However, if it doesn't get resolved in the next few hours, I'll put in a policy that will increase the localpref on the Dial path for anything with your AS in the path.

One more update. It looks like one of the NIC.CZ upstreams weren't being passed the prefix. They're working on fixing it....
