This gets rancid pretty unhappy.

There is no "E" in carib.

It was not a DNS issue. management generates its own /etc/hosts file from switch names and DNS.
rancid first learned about sw-caribe3 at Sat Mar 9 00:42:22 2013 UTC, and was first able to ssh into it at Sat Mar 9 20:50:19 2013 UTC. So, yes, it's fixed now, I can agree with that part of the analysis.

This is a DNS issue. I can SSH to it via ip address. (130.129.1.43)
