Description
At 5:30, wireless signal on ietf-hotel is weak but usable (seemingly) at desk. I get my IP address. But - I can't ping the first-hop router. hta@hta:~$ netstat -rn Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface 0.0.0.0 130.129.152.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 wlan0 130.129.152.1 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 wlan0 130.129.156.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.252.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 hta@hta:~$ ping 130.129.152.1 PING 130.129.152.1 (130.129.152.1) 56(84) bytes of data. The hhonors network is connect-to-able, but shows a login page. I've resorted to using my phone as a wifi hotspot. More reliable -- Surveillance is pervasive. Go Dark.

Network in my room is now usable. Thank you! (still weak, but IP packets get where they should) UPDATE: While I was writing this, my Ubuntu box reported that it was connected to ietf-hotel 3 times - and then packets could not get through. I reconnected (still to ietf-hotel), and then packets flowed. Timestamp: 07:20 - same device as before. hta@hta:~$ netstat -rn Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface 0.0.0.0 130.129.152.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 wlan0 130.129.152.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.248.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 hta@hta:~$ ping 130.129.152.1 PING 130.129.152.1 (130.129.152.1) 56(84) bytes of data. ^C --- 130.129.152.1 ping statistics --- 2 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 1007ms <reconnect> hta@hta:~$ ping 130.129.152.1 PING 130.129.152.1 (130.129.152.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 130.129.152.1: icmp_req=1 ttl=64 time=1293 ms 64 bytes from 130.129.152.1: icmp_req=3 ttl=64 time=588 ms On 03/04/2014 10:24 AM, IETF Meeting/NOC wrote: > #679: Reception report, Tower wing, 7th floor corner - wireless but no IP > ---------------------------+-------------------------------- > Reporter: harald@… | Owner: cdoyle@… > Type: request | Status: assigned > Priority: tbd | Milestone: ietf-89 > Component: incoming | Resolution: > Keywords: | My Current Location: > My MAC Address: | My OS: > ---------------------------+-------------------------------- > > Comment (by cdoyle@…): > > Good morning. > > We've resolved a few issues with the services running on the guest WiFi > and I wanted to see if your connectivity has improved. I am closing this ticket with a status of pending. We have communicated to the hotel the challenges that we have encountered in the guest rooms and thank you for your patience and understanding.
Colin

Good morning.
We've resolved a few issues with the services running on the guest WiFi? and I wanted to see if your connectivity has improved. We had a DHCP pool exhaustion at the start of the week we addressed on Sunday evening, and last night we identified and resolved a VRRP configuration issue. We have also requested that the hotel adjust the power levels of some of the access points servicing the guest room towers.
Please let us know if things have gotten better from your room.
Colin
