Cannot connect to the IETF default network with Windows Phone

When I try to connect with Windows Phone (running 8.1) I get the attached error screen with message Your phone can't connect to the Wi-Fi network ietf.

The ietf-legacy network works fine.

Hi, my guess is that your phone is 2.4Ghz only. If you'd like to come by the Help Desk in Brasserie (located on Lobby Level behind the Reception Desk), we'll be happy to see if we can get your phone connected to another SSID.

I don't think so. It connects just fine to ietf-legacy, and doesn't connect to ietf-2.4ONLY. I'l find a time to come around tomorrow.

Understood. PLEASE make time to come by the Help Desk in the terminal room. Our hours tomorrow are 8AM to 8PM. We're intrigued and would love to help you resolve this issue. :)

Did this issue get resolved at the Help Desk?

Just trying to make sure the ticket is current.

No, they tried but couldn't get it to work.

One theory is that 801.1x with WPA2 doesn't work on Windows Phone. The only suggestion we found on Microsoft forums was to do a hard reset and try again. A hard reset involves deleting all user data and installed applications, so we didn't try that. (insert Microsoft support joke here).

So no, for now I'm using ietf-legacy. Perhaps by Prague either 8.1 will be updated, or WP10 will be out and something will be different.
