Description
I have a new laptop, but due to local regulations it does not support the 5 GHz band.
I understood that the ietf-2.4ONLY was for such cases, but I can not connect to it (gives "credentials can not be validated", after which I say "connect anyway", and get a long wait and then "unable to connect to ietf-2.4ONLY").
ietf-legacy works.

Windows has to be told to not validate the certificate. This is a checkbox option in the SSID profile. I've shown the guys at the helpdesk how to do this.

If you go to the IETF 93 Network site, about half way down to the Support Section there is a description about how to help Windows Users get on the IETF network. Please follow the attached instructions, or stop by the Terminal room for assistance.

Could you please come by the Help Desk in the Terminal Room (Amsterdam). Someone there will be happy to help figure this out.
Thanks!
