#977 closed defect (fixed)

ietf-hotel and wired network unstable...

Description

Hi fearless NOC,

I'm in room 2094 and at about 23:00 both the wired connection and
ietf-hotel have become unusable... I'm sending this via cellular data.

I can make a connection but certain services don't work (VPNs never connect
to the server on the other side, iMessage and Facetime Audio never connect)
but HTTPS/HTTP do seem to eventually get packets through.

I should just go to bed anyway.

Thanks for busting your collective assess in light of such strange network
infrastructure here at the Hilton!

best, Joe

Joseph,

Sorry you are experiencing difficulties, even on the wired infrastructure.

We have been experiencing large amounts of issues with the hotel wireless infrastructure, but not on the wired. We will review the log files for around that time, and see if any of our services boxes were having issues at around the time you mentioned.

Thank you for your patience with the network, and letting us know about the problems you were having directly.

-Con

Heya, this has seemed to resolve itself during the night. Thanks a ton!

Joe,

Just a additional comment. While the wireless is still quite a challenge, you're right that we had a number of outages of wired last night. We've identified what caused it (sadly, it was self-inflcted as we were debugging other issues), and have made adjustments so it won't happen again. Sorry for the outage!

I'm going to resolve this ticket, but if you see ongoing wired guest room network issues, please re-open!

Oh, and thanks for the kind words!
